Emptying My Head...

It's been one of those weeks where there is something going on every day/night.  That pretty much sums up the month of May around here.

I have learned a thing or two this week though:

Monday:  Noah and Eli had a Spring Music Concert for school.  Jake was still not feeling great, but this could not be like any good mother I hauled him along and spread the germs around some more *sorry to the peeps of tiny town*  Anyways, I had an idea that turned out to be GENIUS.  Can I say that without sounding arrogant?  ;)    I downloaded an episode of Spongebob and Fragel Rock on my ipod and brought along the the completely entertained him!

Do you think it would be inappropriate to take it to church on Sundays in order to keep him quiet?  I'm kidding...KIDDING...sort of ;)

Last night was our final night of Kids Bible Club for the school year.  It was really a fantastic year...and it will be a fantastic break this summer too :)  It was supposed to start at 7 Pm.  I had about 10 kids here by 6:15 PM...they were a little bit excited.  We cooked up 100 hot dogs for the occasion...they ate them ALL.  Yeah.  There were somewhere between 40-50 one could get a good head count because they were constantly moving.  It was overwhelming (in a good way) to listen to them sing in worship to God.  This is our third year of Bible Club, never did I imagine it would become what it is, and I look forward to what God has planned for it in the future.  He reveals the details to me  on a need to know basis :)

Friday night is a mother/daughter thing at a cute little tea room.  It involves dessert...and coffee.   Need I say more.

Saturday is a 4 mile race...remember this?  It's a fun one.  Never mind that I haven't run yet this week because of sickness...oh well.  Gonna try to get a run in tonight after a community meeting where they value my opinion.  Ha.

Did I mention I ran SIX miles last Saturday WITHOUT WALKING.  I know.  I KNOW!  That's the longest I've ever run at one time...and it felt good...and that song Hurts So Good :)
Billie and I were beyond excited with ourselves.  The idea of running 7 more miles on top of that for a 1/2 mary sounds nearly impossible, but we've got all summer yet to train...we'll get there...or die trying.

And that there is enough blabbing for one post...until tomorrow my friends...

  1. That is wonderful! 40-50 kids YAY! Have a wonderful time this Saturday, run hard, run fast, have fun! I'll be thinking of you all and can't wait to hear about it (and see pictures!).

  2. 6 miles without walking! DUDE! That is AWESOME.
    Never happen here.

  3. Sounds like a fun week, minus the sickness and the running.;)

  4. During my grandpa's funeral, I gave Caleb (age 1) my ipod with a couple of SuperWhy episodes downloaded free from PBS. I felt a little unholy and disrespectful, but he was quiet. All around? A good deal. :)

  5. Ok,'re running updates really, REALLY make me want to hit the pavement w/ a new pair of Saucony's or New Balance...I used to run, back in the day. Until some health things decided to show off and take all my fun away. (Wow, that sounded so poetic, on accident!) But, then again, I think of Paul...who said he needed to excercise his spiritual I was convicted to do so. BUT, I still love and miss running. I tried to start up again last year on Labor Day weekend. I pulled my achilles tendon and have been swimming ever since, hoping to pick up running again on Memorial Day weekend. Which won't be happening this year...Josefine probably won't dig that abrubt and random jiggling around. We'll stick with the pool for now! :)
Keep updating us on your running affairs...that way, I can live vicariously through you. :) Good job on the 6 miles btw...Yay!

  6. Great job on the running! I so need to do it. I've walked/run and it about does me in for just 2 miles.

I wish we could give the kids something like that for church as well. Really. I won't. I haven't:)

  7. Fragel Rock is still around? Cool!

  8. Okay, now I am beyond nervous and having self-doubt...38 minutes!!?? I was thinking finishing in 1 hour was going to be good for me!?!!?
HELP! sigh...I have had sick kiddo as well so absolutely no running all week, boy am I in trouble?!

  9. Kim: You could walk it in an will for sure do fine!! I promise! I swear, it's the coffee and bagels waiting at the end that kept me going... :)

  10. Whoa! 6 miles? That is must be in wonderful shape....I'm so impressed. You go girl!

I'm still laughing because while I was reading your post, my husband walked over to give me a squeeze and he read the part about you downloading Fragel Rock onto your ipod and he said, "Now that's my kinda woman!" I laughed so hard!

You see when we first got married almost 25 years ago, he would sit and watch Fragel Rock and it would DRIVE ME CRAZY. Yes, you heard right....a grown man of 21 yrs, watching Fragel Rock. On occasion, I still tease him about it.

Thanks for the laugh and for keepin' it real!!!

  11. I love your new pics! (Or maybe they're old pics and I'm unobservant, hmmm). SIX MILES???!!! That's like bionic woman stuff!

  12. six miles without walking? Awesome!

  13. I subscribed to the Sesame Street, Discovery Channel, and Best of Uou Tube podcasts so that I always have something on the old iPod for the kids to watch. Can't wait for Saturday! Wheee!
