Good Questions and Yummy Donuts...

Man this picture makes me want some donuts. My love for donuts runs deep...very deep.

Moving on.

I'm joining in on the fun with Linda over at 2nd Cup. I think all of my readers probably already know Linda, but it you haven't met yet, I highly recommend you take a trip over there. She's a hoot.

1. It's early morning, about 2:00AM, and you're driving home. You come to a red light and sit there. There is no one in sight for miles around. Do you wait it out or run the light?
I sit there...until I've convinced myself that the stoplight must not work properly at 2AM therefor justifying my need to go through it. And then, I think to myself *wait!* it's 2 in the morning and there are probably drunk people driving all over the place and if I break the law by going through the stoplight they will probably show up out of nowhere and crash into me. Welcome to my thought process...it's exhausting.

2. If you had the chance to re-do the last 24 hours, would you change anything?
I might change my tall Peppermint Mocha to a grande because sometimes bigger is better.

3. When you reply to someone's comment on your blog, do you reply in your comments or go to her blog and comment? (Or email her)
It just depends. But I am not very good at following up like many people are. I'm always amazed when I leave a comment somewhere and the sweet person emails me about it. Makes me feel special... and then bad because I am not as thoughtful. I do have some good excuses though...I can email ya if you're interested. ;)

4. Your favorite Disney movie is: Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast.

5. Do you recycle?
I do! Only for the past year or so...I'm a little slow at jumping on this band wagon. I don't really enjoy it though...but I can do my part.

6. Games of strategy or games of chance?
Can I say a little of both without cheating the question? My current favorite game is Dutch Blitz. It's a card game with Amish people on it. And I think it involves both strategy and chance...that being said, I am very annoyed that my husband beats me at it 80% of the time.

7. Do you have any recurring dreams?
YES. I keep dreaming that we are moving into another parsonage. Still the same church, just moving us to a different house. Anyways, the houses are big old houses and in the dream I'm trying to figure out where I'll put everything and who will sleep in each room and then I'm trying to figure out what colors to paint all the while I'm wishing I could just go back to my small house where I don't have to worry about any of that.

8. What did you learn from your first real job?
I'm gonna count babysitting as my first real job because I was a hard-core babysitter and man was I good at it. I could keep the kids happy and safe AND clean their kitchen to boot. I was in high demand. I learned to multi-task with kiddos around. Too bad I don't have my 15 year old energy to keep me going these days.

9. Do you buy or borrow most books?
I think I borrow most books. I've just recently started using our little library on a regular basis. I've gotten over my bad habit of not returning books so now it's not quite as scary :) Just yesterday I checked out this book. I KNOW! I saw the author on The Today show and this town in the book is in our general area. My step dad grew up there and we have a good pastor friend who is now pastoring there. I think it will open my eyes to my own tiny town too. I'll let ya know more about it once I pass page 15.

10. What fashion trend of the past did you say you'd never wear again but did?
Pretty much all of them. I tend to eat the word never whenever I use it.

11. When do you start Christmas shopping?
Not until December. It's all about atmosphere for me.

12. Have you ever been so happy that you literally jumped up and down for a few seconds? If so, what was the occasion?
Yes. It usually involves me clapping too. For some reason they just go together.

Go over to Linda's to join in on the fun!

Random

1. On an average, how often do you splurge and buy something for yourself?
Generally, waaaay too often. God is working on me to reign. it. in.

2. Are you more like Hall or Oates? Just kidding. Real question: What is the last creative project you began/finished? Feel free to post a pic of it.
I'm not creative. I don't enjoy the process very much. I just like the finished product...which leads me back to question 1.

3. OK, Goldie Locks, do you consider your house too big, too little or juuuust right?
Most of the time I think it's just right. It borders on the small size by most home standards today, but I love small spaces. The downside, is that it makes entertaining others hard because of the space...especially with lots of kids involved.

4. What is your favorite outdoor chore?
How sad that I don't think I can come up with a favorite outdoor chore...does watching my husband mow the lawn count?

5. If you knew that cigarette smoking was not bad for your health but would be a weight loss tool, would you use it? Why or why not?
No. Way. I hate it. Hate the smell of it...hate how it looks, etc.

6. On a road trip, would you rather drive or ride?
Ride.

7. What do you consider a trivial pursuit?
Money.

8. This weekend, we downloaded the movie "Duplicity" with Julia Roberts and Clive Owen. Within 5 minutes, I was bored and annoyed, but I kept watching 5-10 minutes at a time hoping it would get better between small chores. I finally gave up and Jorge watched it alone, and then regretted wasting that time because he disliked it intensely, too. So ... how long do you watch a movie or read a book before giving up on it?
We watched 1/2 of that movie and I decided I was going to bed because it was so BORING. Usually I'll stick it out even if it's dumb...but not this one.

9. Is there a song that you really love but are embarrassed to admit because it's not cool or it's racy or because it's by Hall and Oates?
The list of songs that I like that some would deem "inappropriate" for a pastor's wife to like is pretty long. Nothing too racy or with cussing, stuff my kids can still listen too but makes my husband roll his eyes at me ;) Like the other day when Eli, (my 7 year old) told me his favorite song was Ice Ice Baby by Vanilla Ice...it was a proud moment. Word to your mother.

10. On a scale of 1-10 (10 = extremely) how spontaneous are you?
Probably a 4. Boring. It's not that I'm very scheduled either, it's mostly the fact that I just go about day to day doing the same thing...which I happen to like.

11. Are you a food and/or beverage snob?
Nope. Can someone who enjoys a #3 from McDonald's ever be considered a food snob? I think not.

12. Who/What are you trying to control in your life? (I hear people gulping and see them sweating in anticipation of how to answer this one.)
The shorter answer would be who/what am I not trying to control in my life. It's a constant daily battle for me...handing back over the desire to control stuff.

Head on over to Linda@2nd Cup to see more Random Dozen.

Me

I went in search of a meme today. Desperate times call for desperate measures, my friends. It was that, or discuss the unseasonably cool weather that is keeping me from the pool. (Which I totally wrote a post about and then deleted after realizing how pathetically boring it was.)

Anyways, I found a quiz instead. A 70 question long quiz. The results were quite intriguing...

Your result for The LONG Scientific Personality Test...

ENFJ- The Teacher

You scored 64% I to E, 47% N to S, 29% F to T, and 21% J to P!

Your type is known as the teacher, or the educating mentor. You also belong to the larger group, called idealists. You tend to bring out the best in other people. You lead without seeming to do so. People are naturally drawn to you. You expect the very best from people which takes the form of enthusiastic encouragement which is so charming that people try their best not to disappoint you. You share your personality type with 3% of the population.

You need to feel a deep and meaningful connection to your romantic partners, and go to great lengths to understand and please your mate. Harmony is vitally important to you, and you often put others' needs before your own. You have a pretty thin skin and are easily hurt. Although you strive for harmony, when your values or ethics are violated, you can be very emotional, confrontational, and even punishing. However, you are very insightful about the underlying cause of conflicts, and an excellent communicator, so you have the tools to bring about a quick and peaceful resolution as long as you can keep control of your facilities. You want to be appreciated for your thoughtfulness and compassion. You need your partner to make a real effort to get to know you. Above all, you need to be able to express your feelings and have them taken seriously.

Your group summary: idealists (NF)

Your type summary: ENFJ

All right, let me hear your thoughts...I'll share what I think tomorrow :)

The One That Takes Too Long

Eight

Does it make me  a total loser to steal a meme I wasn't even tagged for?  Thought so. ;)

2. Watched 3 episodes of season 3 of 24.  (Ben was at a Bible conference and I put the boys to bed ;)

3. Convinced Noah that our next dog will be a Basset Hound.

4. Made lists as follows:  Get done on vacation week, get done tomorrow, get done period.

5.  Ate almost an entire container of fresh salsa all by myself.

6.  Looked through my old weight watchers point booklets.  Still in denial about how many points I really eat.  Bleh.

7. Woke up at 5 AM to run with Billie.  Half way through the run I shut off the Garmin because it was that bad.  A measly 2.5 miles later I came home and crawled back in bed.

Nothing Original...

Another meme...because I can.

This one I saw at Jodie's and Mama Belle's blogs.

Here goes.

If you could be invisible where would you go?

I'd hang out with my kids at school to see how they interact when I'm not around. Or I'd follow the current president around or I'd hang out at Heth's house to see if it's as much fun to be a part of their fam as I think it is :)

What was your favorite book growing up?

Are You There God, it's Me Margaret...and Where the Red Fern Grows.

Where is the worst place you've had to wait?

Four years ago I was newly preggo and very nauseous with Jake. I went to vote in the presidential election and I had to wait at the extremely hot community building in a long line with two little ones and people who did not smell so good. But dang it, MY VOTE COUNTED! :)

Name a food that nauseates you.

Bananas. *gag*

If you could read minds, whose would you want to read?

None. Just the thought of it frightens me beyond words.

What's the worst grade you've ever gotten?

On what? A Class, a paper, a test? No matter...that would be an F. We learn from failure, right?!?

If you could be an animal what would you be and why?

Odie. He's livin' the dream.

If you were a teacher what grade would you teach?
Do I have to? I love teaching Bible Club and my new Sunday School class of teenage girls...but lets face it, that's a total of 2 hours, 2 days a week. The thought of twenty some kids, 5 days a week, ALL day long...God Bless all the teachers!!!!!

How close to fist place have you ever gotten in a limbo contest?

Ummm...not close. I am not flexible. At all. I am not a limbo fan. Count me out.

Maybe I'll come up with an original thought for tomorrows post...maybe.

I Say it Like the Roadrunner...

I've been blogging for about nine months now and I'm always learning something new.

The latest thing cracks me up. After hearing several of you mention the word Meme on your video posts, I realized that ALL THESE months I've totally been saying it wrong (not that you can hear me say it, but still)

I say, ME ME, but apparently it is pronounced like "meem"...the funny part is...that for the life of me, I can't change how I say it! I also spell it differently every time I type it, I figure that way I'm bound to get it right at least once.

So here's another MeMe from me to you :)

I'm almost positive that the last thing the bloggy world needs is more info about me...but it does say "random things" and you know I can't turn random down...or my bloggy friend Hollie that tagged me :)

Here are the rules.....
1. Post the rules on your blog
2. Write 6 random things about yourself
3. Tag 6 people at the end of your post
4. If you are tagged, just do it, and pass the tag along!!

1 - I hate the sound of people clipping their nails...HATE it. If I clip my own, it doesn't bother me so much, but other people...yikes. Don't even get me started on people clipping in public...or my teacher in high school that clipped his during class...barf. I also like the word barf, but not actual barf.

2 - Today I am going to lunch with Nicole...who leaves comments on my blog, and we "know" each other through facebook and mutual friends, but have never met in real life. I also have no idea what she looks like, so hopefully I'm not standing in the restaurant for too long before she finds me...it's kinda like a blind lunch date. I will most certainly take my camera along ;)

3 - I laughed my butt off last night while watching Jillian on The biggest Loser chew out the ladies for being lazy whiners. The best was when she said she wanted to puke all over herself for how nice she'd been to them...I heart her and her meaness...because it's effective people :)

4 - My hair in the morning is cra-zy. I don't mean a little messy or flat...I mean totally outta control...sometimes my Nike baseball cap can hardly contain it.

5 - I almost always never finish a whole book. I read 3/4 or so and then stop...figuring I've gotten the gist of it. Weird, huh.

6 - I am easily amused. Obviously.

Wow...I just made that meme really boring...that's unfortunate.

Need a post? I tag you.

I also have a little award to pass on...

Barbie from Moments. Memories. Milestones. graciously passed this on to me because of this post. Barbie is an amazing mom and woman of God, I always enjoy finding out what she's up to, go check her out...she's got some fabulous hair too ;)

You know by now, that I am terrible, TERRIBLE at following linking rules...I blame it on my laziness. Click these rules if you're a rule follower.

I love reading funny stuff from you guys...and let me tell you, there's a lot of funny stuff out there that makes me smile...all of which I can't remember right now. Memory: you fail me miserably.

But there is one that sticks out and makes me smile just THINKING about it! So, I'm passing this award on to Life's Little Quirks for this stinkin' adorable post! I love her, her blog, and the way she shares her heart and life...she's a witty little thing too. Amie...consider yourself awarded.

Now You See Me...

What was I thinking?!?!?

Seriously. This is so not good for the self esteem.

The first video below, I did in August as a trial run...and I'm sharing it with you for the sheer "shock" value of my traumatized self. That sentence makes no sense...

Also, I have a couple disclaimers.

  1. In real life, I do not, in fact, have raccoon eyes. For my next video, which will be....never...I hope to have some of those high-wattage Hollywood lights that make every wrinkle, flaw, and raccoon eye disappear. Next time.
  2. This is likely THE MOST BORING post along the linky journey of I See What You're Saying...I think there should be a prize for that...I'm just sayin'.

My actual "See Me" post is below. Good luck. Thank you blogger for pausing on the absolute worst expression possible.

To see more videos (that are more interesting) go up and click on the owl box ;)

5 Things...

Jen at Reflections in the Window has tagged me for a 5 things I love (excluding family) meme.

I've tried to think of five things that I haven't already told you I love...which, I might add, was STINKIN' hard because apparently I talk about things I love... excessively.

Here goes...

ONE...
I love big families. LOVE THEM. My husband comes from a family of 7 kids, and I love the dynamics of it. In high-school, I wanted 6 kids. After I got married...I wanted 4. Then, after Jake my third...I decided three was...how should I say it.... enough? Yes. Plenty :) But I still love big families. I'm in awe of the mom's...because most days, I'm at my wits end with just three.

Two...
I love politics. I became really interested in it my senior year of high school. I would have loved to work on a campaign at the grass roots level etc...but I also wanted more than anything to be a stay-at-home wife and mom, and the two do not mix. Also turns out, God had some different plans for my life :)

Three...
I love being home ALONE! Love my fam...but cleaning my house and having it STAY clean...*sigh* it's a beautiful thing.

Four...
Fashion. Not so much in a materialistic, "gotta have it" kinda way, but I love putting outfits together. I will sit and look at the JCrew magazine for hours, to see how they layered stuff and put colors together. This doesn't mean I always look "put together" ...it just means that I waste a lot of time thinking about it :)

Five...
I love passionate people. I think that's why I could watch infomercials all.day.long. Those people are just SO EXCITED about that product...I don't even care if it works or not, I just like that they're so excited about it! Passionate people for Jesus is what changed my life. God used them to reveal Himself to me in a new and fresh way.

OK, so you know I cheat on this EVERY TIME and tag you all...guess who's it?!?

Oh, one more thing...I have some more awards to pass along...I haven't forgotten, I'll get to it!

Another update: I have a new water heater and HOT water!! I no longer am crusty...phew! Wednesday evening I could be heard exclaiming to everyone "I've got gas!!!" ...no not that kind...but the kind that lights my stove!!! Seriously, never been so excited about gas...except maybe that one time when I was in college and I got "the gift of gas" for Christmas...for my 1982 Cutlass Supreme :)Gas...endless comic opportunities.
