Ordinary = Good

Here's some random information to bring you up to date on my oh-so-ordinary life.

Ordinary = Good.

No worries, I'll narrow it down to the topics I bore talk about the most.

My family: Ben and I have been doing Jillians 30 Day shred together...we're on day 6 or 7. We've committed to do it everyday (except Sunday because good grief we need some rest) till Julie comes...25 more days. I'd like to say, for the record, that I'd gladly run 8 miles over TWO MINUTES OF JUMPING JACKS!

The Boys: It goes a little something like this...make a mess, leave that mess to start another mess...eat, eat, eat...fight like crazy...play like crazy...pool...eat, eat, eat...mom has a melt down that goes something like this: pick up your mess, get out of the food you JUST ATE, stop tattling, stop saying that, *watch in amazement as they play good together for a few hours*, remind them again to get out of the pantry, tell them it's time to practice reading...at which point they all suddenly quietly disappear...Summer is fun.

Running: Going good. 1/2 Mary is September 12th. We'll be ready. We won't be fast, but we'll be ready. Goal: Finish. I know, my standards are so high.

Julie: 25 days and she'll be here. Go here to see her and here to listen to her :)

The biggest most important thing: I'm struggling this Summer with giving God the rightful place He deserves...First...top priority. I'm used to structure and routine...both in my daily schedule and with our Ladies Bible study...but this Summer has put those both on hiatus and I find myself getting to the end of the day and realizing I never really took time with just Him. I hate that I so easily allow Him to get squeezed out by unimportant things...

Cute Clothes: I had said in my last post that I was going to share some of my favorite stuff from this Summer...and I'm still going to, sometime this week!

Well, I think that's pretty much all of it!

Your turn...fill me in ;)

  2. I'm doing the Shred as well...killer. I'm on level 2 and it's so hard I'm actually too afraid to even look at level 3...

    As much as I love summer, the lack of routine really gets to me -- glad to know I'm not the only one!

  3. LOL your day sounds like mine! Mostly the EAT, EAT, EAT!! Now, I know for fact these kids did not eat ALL day long at school, right? HOW DID THEY SURVIVE?!?!?
    My 10 yr old son eats about 3 breakfasts, daily! Then lunch a few snacks, dinner, more snacks PLUS he drinks a couple of cans of pediasure! And he is thin as a rail. ugh....
    I am excited for you to finally meet Julie!
    Have a great week!!

  4. I love seeing that your boys are as wild as mine! Haha. You make me feel normal. :) I love them to pieces, but sometimes they make me want to pull my hair out.
    I was wondering what program you are following to get ready for the 1/2 Mary. I'm interested in doing one, but I'm definitely NOT a runner right now. Any suggestions?
    I sooo look forward to reading your blog each day. We have a lot in common!

  5. I so need to update my blog! Tons to write about, even pictures to go with it, just NO TIME. You know, all that eating and fighting!
    (I bought the Shred dvd last night in hopes of getting something in. I have been exercising consistently but it is getting squeezed out!

  8. You're right -- normal IS good.

    I'm impressed you are doing the Shred AS you are training for a race. Hard-core, girl. That's hard-core.

  9. I have been hearing about this Shred business, and successfully ignoring it based on "Sorry, I'm pregnant" excuse.
    Darn the reminder. My non-pregnant self needs to get off the couch.
    Enter the excuse: 'Oh, I'm nursing, it'll go away on its own'

  10. Like Rachel and I have said ... Anita is our best friend, and Natalie ... she needs to calm down. Have you gotten to Level 2 or 3 yet? I do Level 2 when I do it. Level 3 ... no. The thing I hate the most ... the plank in all its forms.

    And, you're right ... normal is good. I love normal. I just don't get it often enough.

  11. Sarah, Don't get discouraged, it is easy to do. Just try to have the quiet time earlier each day. I have been encouraged this week by the sermon Pastor Ben did on Sunday. Thank you for your encouragement to Alex and I. May God Bless you and good luck on running, I can do 2 minutes.

  14. I like the running quote by the guy who writes The Penguin Chronicles that goes something like, "The miracle is not that I finished the race; the miracle is that I ever started." Great job!

  15. I am totally with you on the 8 miles over 2 mins jumping jacks! However, I am concerned.....should you be exercising so much in your condition????......(see ticker post!!!) ;) - that post gave me such a laugh. Julie is going to love you guys! :)

  16. Just sounds like life to me! My kids are older, but everything else is pretty much the same. I've started getting up at 6:00am before work to spend 20-30 minutes with God this week. It's helped alot. For one thing (and if nothing else happened because of it this would make it worth it), my guilt is gone. I hate feeling guilty and that's how I feel when I get to the end of the day and haven't spent time with Him.
