Tiny Town Will Never be the Same...

We had a tornado hit our tiny-town, last night around 5PM. The boys and I were in another town for a graduation, but Ben was home, and in the basement. I was able to get back into town around 8 last night, and just sobbed driving through town to get to our house...trees are down everywhere. Our home and everything is fine.

A few minutes after I got home, my friend Shanon, pulled into our drive, still in her Dr. Scrubs...she wanted to make sure we were alright....her big, beautiful house that sits on the edge of tiny-town is completely gone. We are so thankful that she was at work, and her husband and 3 little ones were in WI visiting family...no one was home. I will never forget that moment when she said, "It's gone."

Another small town, 8 miles west of tiny-town was completely devastated. We have 2 families from our church who live there...they are all physically fine, but one is missing their roof, windows, and their dog was killed. 2 people are confirmed dead from our tiny town and 5 people from the other small town. It is devastating.

We were evacuated last night because there is no power, and stayed the night at my parents. We're hoping to be able to get back into town to help clean up. Please pray, bloggy friends.

Here a picture of my good friend, Shanon. She's the one in the front, with the red sweater. Please keep her and her family lifted up in prayer as they face the coming days. Praise God they are all safe!

I will try to update once everything is up and running again...I have no idea how long that will be...I knew I had to post, because I have such amazing prayer warriors out there, who've come to love tiny-town without even knowing it's real name :)

  1. We are praying Brenda and Co. are here. They just found out residents ONLY can get back in today. Grandparents are coming to pick up the kids and cats.
We are praying. I am so sad for Shannon, but happy they weren't home. I'll have to get her contact info from you. She can stay here if needed.
I wonder what this is going to do with the school schedule

  2. I am so thankful for the obviousness of God's hand of protection. I talked to my mom last night and she seemed okay. I was okay after I heard her voice. I felt like puking before. My mind wandered to that senseless place of 'what might have been'. They were so right in the path...
I'm glad you are all okay. I had to call every one of my family members last night just to be sure. I hadn't realized that your town was also hit. My prayers are with you all!

  3. So thankful you are ok. Let us know if we can help. Trent has the pickup and trailer if you need it. My aunt and uncle's home in the other town is completely gone. My aunt was actually trying to get her elderly neighbor down to her basement when it hit. Part of the roof fell on her and she was taken to the hospital, but she is ok. Trent and I are praying hard! Love you lots!

  14. Someday maybe we'll understand the why's of what God allows, but until then, we live in the grace and mercy He extends to us. I'm so glad for His mercy and grace for you yesterday.

    Definitely praying,

  16. I grew up in a tiny town and was saved in a tiny town church. I know how devastating a tornado can be to a community like that. I will be praying for the healing and rebuilding that will need to be redone. Glad I found your blog, but sorry to hear about what you are going through.

  22. Sarah, I just read this and will pray for YOU, Tiny Town, Shannon. I am sorry, I know how it feels to see a loved one lose everything in one minute. My son had a fire in March and lost everything even his money clip and cell phone. He and his family was safe and God has given him back more than he even had-watch and see that the LOrd is good.God bless Tiny Town and all who live there!
    With Love and Prayers, Lorie
