Friend-Making Machine

I feel the need to tell you all that I have been making A LOT of friends lately.

I kid you not.

New bloggy friends that I will probably never meet in real life, new friends in tiny-town (because of tornado) and new people (thru blogging) that although I've never met in real life, I've met through blogging or Facebook and because they live in close proximity to me (because they are already friends with my real friends), I will actually probably meet in real life...soon. If you just followed that sentence...congratulations, you officially have been reading this blog too long and can now follow my sentences that do not make sense. Phew.

I've never been really great at making friends. I've always had friends, I was just never the one to introduce myself and pursue a friendship...if the other person did, well then, we were of course BFF's.

When I moved to tiny-town, God said to me..."Umm, sorry, but that is not gonna fly anymore...get off your butt, and go make some friends, stop making them come to you, YOU go to them" (I'm paraphrasing here) And I did...and it was so out of my comfort zone (still is) ..but, God has given and is still giving (in abundance) wonderful women friends. More wonderful that I could have imagined. That's like Him though...He never fails to go SO FAR above what I think He will do. Doesn't matter what it was or is, He ALWAYS outdoes Himself (if God can, in fact, out-do Himself...but you know what I mean :)

It makes me excited for today, and for the future. What's He gonna do next?!?

  1. Sarah - I LOVE your random comments! You seem like you would make friends very quickly! See - you already introduced yourself - I know you have three little boys and your husband is a Pastor. It cracks you up that you are the Pastor's Wife (probably like when someone calls me Mrs. Price - I always turn to look for my mother in law and I have been married 25 years) haha. I know that you live in a small town that was ravaged by tornados AND you take on everyone else's burdens.
Oh yeah - you want to grow flowers and a friend suggested you enter a contest, but so far all you have grown are weeds.
I think you are doing VERY well in making friends - see it already seems like we have been best friends forever!
Have a great night Sarah - I hope I made you laugh!

  2. God's pretty good at moving us out of our comfort zones, that's for sure. And you seem like you would be an absolutely terrific friend....and I'm sure that anyone who knows you in real life can attest to that!

  8. I love how God brings people into our lives...on line and in real life. Hmmm...that sounds weird, like on line friends aren't real. Figments of our imagination. :) Anyway, you know what I mean. I have met a bunch amazing people through blogging as well. I love it!
I was a little surprised to read that initiating the friends making process was not your forte. I would've guessed that it was. :) You are so super friendly. :)

  9. Precious Sarah, I'm so glad you are my friend,I know we are because I made perfect sense of your sentence. I love our time together and in some ways you remind me of my daughter Ashley. She is hard on herself and sometimes doesn't fully feel her worth. In my eyes and God's eyes you both are a masterpiece!
    Be blessed!

I am glad you were ok through the storm - I am sorry for all the families that lost everything.
I started running too, how much are you running each day? I hope to see you at the pool this summer!
    Love,

  12. You are too much fun! It surprises me that you could ever have trouble making friends.

Not sure if this is your struggle, but for me, I'm easily intimidated by others. It's not shyness, but I struggle a bit with self-confidence, so I often will avoid approaching new people out of fear of rejection. So silly, but true. I find that when talking to new people, I'm often so nervous or self-concious, that my mind will just draw a blank...it's like, hmmmm...what to talk about...lol. Here in Blogworld, you get the luxury of reading, thinking and typing/responding at your own pace. That's my kind of communication! No (self-imposed) pressure!

Glad to have you as a bloggy friend! = )

  14. I can relate! Moving to Ohio last year and then moving here this year has really forced me to come out of my shell and meet people.
