I Love Lucy

Before this week, I had never watched the beloved television show, I Love Lucy.  Crazy, no?   Since I did, after all, name my baby girl Lucy.  And since Lucille Ball is probably the most famous of Lucys' (next to the bratty Charlie Brown one) I thought I should culturize myself a bit.  I'm not sure why, exactly, that I'd never seen it, but I think it may be the fact that I can't stand to watch anything that is not in color.

I'm lame, I can't help it.  Don't even ask me how many times I've skipped the first part of The Wizard of Oz, just to get to the color part.

But his week, I happened to find I Love Lucy on the Hallmark channel and so I've been DVRing it.  Turns out, I happen to quite enjoy it!

But I do have a question.  How old are Lucy and Ricky supposed to be in the show?  Because I can't tell.  The black and white and the clothing styles throw me off a bit.  Please help a girl out.

Oh, and when googling, I found this t-shirt that I may have to order for Ben. :)

On an entirely different subject (other than her name)...

I bought Lucy a excersaucer thingy at WalMart this week.  I'd previously told myself I wouldn't because they're so big and I don't have room.  BUT.  I'm desperate for something to entertain her, other than me holding her in an upright position so she can see everything that's going on.  This one is smaller, and better yet, it was a whole $22.
She likes it!!  Yay for 10 minutes for me to get something done.

She's got some room to grow into it.

  2. Your daughter is so beautiful! I have always loved I Love Lucy and grew up with my mom watching it. I would like to suggest a movie to you that has both Lucy and Ricky in it and you should watch it, it is called "The Long, Long Trailer"! Great movie, it's funny and even better..it is in color :)
Let me know if you do watch it and like it or not! Have a great day!

  4. such a cute picture!! and seriously, $22? You KNOW I'm heading to Wall-Mart after conferences tonight to get one for Corbin. I've totally ruined my 3rd child. He cries if I'm not holding him. That was charming until he was about 4 months old. He is now almost 11. So, I'm going to try the exersaucer! Thanks for the tip! :)

  5. I love Lucy's outfit! Super cute!

We borrowed an exersaucer for Lily when she was that age and I've been on the hunt for a cheap one to use with this baby -- I'll have to check Walmart!

  8. I used to watch it a lot when I was younger but can't even remember the last time I saw an episode of that show. Your baby girl sure is cute in that Walmart thing. Hope you have had a great week so far.

  10. My girls will watch an all-day Lucy marathon. We all love it.

I remember putting my babies in a bouncer for 5 minutes right in front of the tub so I could get a quick shower. Exersaucer equally as good.

Funny that a related post is my "Happy Birthday Mama Belle" post. That was so cool.

  14. HA! I love that smile of your little Lucy!
I too can not watch things that are not in color...I guess that is a clear sign we were born in the 70's!

  16. I love the Exersaucer, too! It's so nice to have a few hands-free minutes.

My mom LOVED I Love Lucy, so I've watched a ton of episodes. It is hysterical. Good question on how old they are, although since she had little Ricky on the show, maybe their 20's? They look so much older for some reason. I don't know what it is.

  17. I have some Lucy DVDs. I'll have to bring them by.... I think some of them are color.... Good luck on getting your man into that shirt! I loved it, but it reminded me of a striped shirt I have seen, 1 maybe 2 times :-)

  18. Oh my I could just squish Lucy with hugs! What a sweetheart!

Have no idea about the age. But I got to thinking about you and Ben today. With Pastor Appreciation Month coming up, I'm tapped out of creative ideas for our pastor and his family. Could you do a post with suggestions? Or would that be uncool?
