Candid Camera

A few weeks ago I purchased a new camera.  A Nikon L120.  I love it.  It's simple for me to use, which is perfect for my skill level.  But even though it's simple, I'm still learning.

On Sunday before church, Lucy was wearing the cutest little Gap coat that I had purchased at a garage sale this Summer.  I wanted to get her picture standing next to the Christmas tree.

Turns out, that I had hit the video button on the camera without realizing it.

There's nothing quite like a video that you didn't know you were taking to make you realize how totally annoying you are, know what I mean?

It cracks me up. Literally.  So I, of course, must share with you (sideways because I can't rotate it.)

You are welcome.

After I realized what I was doing, I switched to photo mode and continued to try to get a picture...in the process of running away from me Lucy ran into the chair, which then allowed me to get the cutest Daddy & Lucy moment EVAH.
I think her pouty cry is trying to tell him to stop the crazy lady with the camera.

Just a guess.

Mood Swings

This is my first experience with a daughter...a toddler daughter.

Two words:  Mood.  Swings.

Ohmyword.

That's pizza on her face.  In case you were wondering.

I got a new camera.  It caught the "drool" in both pictures.  Awesome.

Happy.  Totally mad.  Happy.  Totally mad.

Wow.

Knocking Out the Projects

Once I get the sewing machine out, I feel the need to just plow through a bunch of projects.  I found the idea on Pinterest from this sight.  It will be one of Lucy's Christmas presents.  They are fabric/felt letters, and they turned out super cute.

This is the backside of the letters, I used a really pale pink flannel.

And this is the little bag I made to store them in.  Turns out, draw string bags are easy.  I <3 Easy.

Lucy loves playing with her baby dolls.  I love that she loves it.  In these pictures, I was trying to empty out her doll cradle so you could see the cute pad thingy I made for the bottom of the cradle...but she was getting ticked at me.  Every time I took one out she scolded me and put all them back in bed.

Finally, here's the quilted pad.  I love this material, it reminds me of vintage 70's stuff.

And the babies are back to bed.  I've taught her well, I guess.

One and a Half

Day 18, 19 & 20 of 31 Days of Happy

Is combining three days of happiness in one post cheating?  I think not...I prefer the term "efficient."

Today Lucy is officially 1 1/2 years old.

She talks non-stop.  Most of it we do not understand.  Her brother Jake (6yrs wise) informed me it's because she's speaking in Chinese.  Alrighty then.

She has gotten quite good at saying animal sounds, uh oh, and sit.  And if you saw her cute little Miss America wave, you'd die.  She has the wrist-flick down to perfection.

She also screeches.  A lot.  When happy, mad, excited, angry...you get the idea.

We'd like the screeching to stop.  Like immediately.

The screeching aside, she's a hoot.  And so stinkin' adorable we can hardly stand it.

She makes us all happy.

Happy Hooligans

Day 6 of  31 Days of Happy.

You know what you do if you're a lazy blogger?  You get tired of linking things.  So today, in honor of my laziness, you'll have to go back to yesterdays post that includes a link to what 31 Days of Happy is, or means, or whatev.

Today I am happy to have hooligans.

What fun would life be, without the antics of a toddler?

The real question though...how long is it going to take the parsonage family to finally remember that things on the table are no longer safe?  We have dozens of spilled cups to prove we are either slow learners or in complete denial that baby Lucy is actually no longer a baby.

Messy-Messerson

I sorta always thought my boys were dirty and grungy looking because, well, they were boys.  And then I had Lucy...

I can't keep this girl clean.

Before church:

Don't let her big, sweet smile fool you.  She hates that hat.  She rips it off her head immediately.

Sunday night, Ben was putting the boys to bed, and I was sitting on the couch with the laptop...a big red chair obstructing my view of a very quiet 17 month old.

We found why she was so quiet.  We keep forgetting she can reach everything off of the table.  It was a fitting way for her to end the day, since at lunchtime she carried Jake's half-full bowl of chicken tortilla soup over to the shag rug and fed herself in the same manner pictured below.  We're still digging black beans and corn out of the rug.

Maybe our genetics just produce messy kids.  Good thing they're cute.

PS - Don't forget to go HERE and not only register yourself for a chance to win, but spread the word so that $ can be raised for those precious kids in Africa!  Pretty please.

Soaking it In...

There are many things I look forward to introducing Lucy to...the list is long.

  • Sunglasses should be at least 1/2 the size of your face:  Check

She's a quick study.

It's Begun...

Saturday I awoke to the sound of large machinery.

I knew it could only mean one thing.

And please, by all means, have a good laugh at the "trailor" for the old shingles.  I did.

Now, the hole will be dug and the cement people will come...that's as far as I choose to look ahead.

I have one motto regarding remodeling, it's called No Expectations.

So far, it's working swimmingly.

On a completely other note...I learned a lesson about Lucy while grocery shopping with her and her three brothers last week.

1 - She loves M&Ms.  Like...a lot.
2 - She rages when I take them away.
3 - They make a huge mess.

I also know you do not visit my blog because of my fantastic photo taking capabilities.  It's likely more because of my excellent English grammar.  *cough*  Either way, thanks for visiting...much appreciated ;)

Lucy Turns One

Lucy turning One meant three different celebrations.  I know, we're just wild and crazy.

 Here's a glimpse...

Party Number 1...

Party Number 2...No I did not make the cake thus the reason it is so perfect!

Trying to get a picture of Lucy with the cake...

Check out what ended up on her shoes.  At least the frosting matched.

And we tried again, this time barefoot.

Little Lu, Lucy Lu, Lulu...One looks pretty good on you!

Lucy

With my first two boys, I went to Sears or JCPenney's religiously to get their pictures taken.  It was the most "professional" we could afford at the time.

Which makes me smile now.

The third son also had his fair share of the "professional" photo shoots, mostly so that I could avoid the pitfall of "the third child who has no pictures" kinda deal.  But by this time, the miracle that is digital photography appeared, which somehow turned the non-professional average joe into photographers...which turned out to be waaaaaay better than heading to the department store studio.

Along comes number four.  And she's a girl.  She's never yet made it to a professional studio.  Is it because this mama is too tired and lazy to mess with that now?  Ummm....yes.  And much smarter, I might add. ;)  Because now, instead of heading to a studio, I have fabulous friends who come to me! Does it get any better than that?!?

It doesn't.

Lucy's first photo shoot is here:

And second photo shoot is here:

And some of her latest, by my super-sweet-uber-talented-friend-Beth.

I know, the cuteness factor is overwhelming.

And no photo shoot is complete without sharing some out-takes.  I love me some out-takes...as long as they are not of me ;)  Vanity, vanity...blah blah blah

Happy Day to You Bloggy Friends!
